123514 – Handle and Use a Shotgun for Business Purposes

PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD
This unit standard applies to persons who will, through the application of knowledge of the current legislation, carry, handle, shoot and maintain a shotgun for business purposes. A person credited with this unit standard will be able to:
- Demonstrate knowledge of safe handling principles in a business environment.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the mechanical functioning of the shotgun.
- Demonstrate knowledge of shotgun use under adverse conditions.
LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING
- 117705: Demonstrate knowledge of the Firearms Control Act (Act No. 60 of 2000)
- 119652: Handle and use a shotgun.
- Communication at NQF level 02.
