WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN IT COMES TO PRACTICE

By law, new firearm owners are educated on the responsible handling and using of firearms, storing them securely at home, as well as carrying firearms in public.  The limited time allocated for these training programs are not enough for proper practice.

It takes the average person 20 hours of practice to become proficient in a new skill – that’s 45 minutes every day for a month. So whatever your expectations, practice is essential.

Learning something new is hard, especially at the beginning when we’re likely to struggle and make mistakes and even when we know the skill is valuable, it often makes practicing  new firearm skills more difficult at first, causing many to stop trying new things and revert back to old habits.

Effective practice means actually going to the shooting range, enhancing those newly acquired skills and practice in a relatively efficient manner.

A good firearm instructor will help you create a development plan, offer feedback, and help you stay accountable to your own goals.
